Marketing
The focus of unit 4 was marketing, more specifically, print and web marketing. We started by learning how to make effective ads and then creating one of our own. When we moved onto web marketing we researched websites and ranked them from best to worst. We then got to create are own website to share information about our business that we created. Unit four taught us how to be effective and efficient when it comes to marketing anything at all.

Simple Website The simple website project was the biggest assignment in unit 4. It showed us how to make a website as effective as we can for our type of business. It showed us how different types of businesses would need different types of websites. I learned how to create a high quality website that efficiently displays the information people would look for when looking for my business. I also learned how well websites like Weebly work when it comes to making a website to display information.

Classifying Websites In this assignment we learned what makes a website the best it can be. We looked at websites and then ranked them out of 5. We looked at the design, content, and features of the website. Two of the website needed to be schools on Vancouver Island and the other four could be any site we wanted, I picked three fashion sites and the Apple website. The highest rank I gave was a 5 to Apple and the lowest was a 3.5 to Supreme New York. This assignment taught me how to make an effective site and display information in a visually appealing way.

The practice ad assignment showed us how to make great ads that are effective and get people’s attention. We then used what we learned to create an ad for whatever business we wanted, or, the one we made. We used whatever resources we wanted to but I used the online photo editor Pixlr. I made an ad for a made up business that edited photos with the message: reimagine creativity. It showed me how easy it was to create an effective good looking ad when you have the right idea and tools.
